Love and Couples

Terms of use

Last updated 25 August 2026

These are the rules for using Love & Couples. They are written to be read rather than to be survived, and they are short because the app does not do very much that needs governing.

Using the app

You must be 18 or older. The app is built for two adults in a relationship playing with each other.

You need an account, and the address on it must be yours. Keep your password to yourself: anybody who has it can act as you, including reading everything your partner has written to you.

The game is between the two of you

We do not referee. The scores, the prize, the penalty and what any of it means are yours to agree on. The app enforces the rules of the game — it does not enforce the agreement behind it, and it cannot tell whether either of you is being fair.

Nothing in this app is a contract between you and your partner. A prize written into a sealed envelope is not enforceable by anybody, and neither is a penalty. If you would not shake hands on it, do not seal it.

What you write

Your notes, your prize, your penalty and everything else you type stays yours. We store it to run the game and show it to your partner, and we claim no ownership of it and no right to use it for anything else.

Do not use the app to harass, threaten or coerce anybody — including your partner. If somebody is using it to hurt you, you can end the season at any time, sign out their device from your account, or delete your account outright. None of those require their agreement.

What this app is not

It is a game. It is not therapy, not counselling, and not advice — relationship, medical, legal or otherwise. If your relationship is in real trouble, a game will not fix it and should not be asked to.

If you are in danger, stop reading this page and contact local emergency services or a domestic-violence helpline.

Ending it

You can delete your account from inside the app at any time, without asking us. See the privacy policy for exactly what happens to your data when you do — including the parts that survive, and why.

We may suspend an account that is being used to attack the service or to harass somebody. If we do, we will say why.

Availability

We will try to keep it running and we make no promise that it always will be. It is a game played once a night; an outage is an inconvenience, not a catastrophe, and it is priced accordingly.

Liability

The app is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from using it — and nothing here limits liability for anything that cannot lawfully be limited, including fraud, or death or personal injury caused by negligence.

These terms are governed by the laws of Belize.

Changes

If these terms change materially, the app will tell you rather than quietly updating the date at the top of a page you have no reason to revisit.
